HOW TO: AEROPRESS

AeroPress Brew Guide

The AeroPress is fast, flexible, and forgiving—perfect for brewing a single cup with great clarity and body. Its simple design makes it easy to get consistent results at home, whether you like your coffee bright, smooth, or somewhere in between.

What Is an AeroPress?

The AeroPress is a compact, handheld coffee brewer that uses immersion and gentle pressure to extract coffee. It’s lightweight, durable, and popular for both home use and travel.

What You’ll Need

  • AeroPress
  • Paper filter
  • 15g coffee per cup
  • Burr grinder (recommended)
  • 250ml fresh, filtered water
  • Kettle
  • Scale
  • Timer
  • Stirrer or spoon

Brew Basics

  • Grind: Medium
  • Ratio: 1 : 16
    • 15g coffee → 250ml water
  • Water Temperature: ~200°F / 93°C
    • Let boiling water rest for about one minute
  • Total Brew Time: 1–2 minutes

Grinding fresh just before brewing will give you the best flavor and aroma.

How to Brew

  1. Heat the Water
Bring water to a boil, then let it cool slightly for about one minute.
  2. Prep the Filter
Place a paper filter in the AeroPress cap and rinse with hot water to remove paper taste. Attach the cap to the brewer.
  3. Add Coffee
Weigh and grind 15g of coffee. Add it to the AeroPress chamber.
  4. Add Water
Slowly pour in 250ml of hot water, making sure all the grounds are evenly saturated.
  5. Stir & Steep
Stir gently for about 10 seconds. Insert the plunger just enough to create a seal and stop dripping. Let it steep for 30–60 seconds.
  6. Press
Plunge slowly and steadily until you hear a soft hiss.
  7. Serve & Clean
Enjoy immediately. To clean, remove the cap and push out the coffee puck. Rinse and you’re ready for the next cup.

Adjust to Taste

  • Too weak: Increase the coffee dose or steep a bit longer
  • Too strong or bitter: Shorten the steep or grind slightly coarser
  • Flat flavors: Use hotter water or fresher coffee

Final Note

The AeroPress is built for experimentation. These ratios are a starting point—adjust and make it your own.
